Trivial Pursuit 44

'X' is a famous work of Mr. 'Y', and it was originally written for children in the 'Ghazal' style of poetry. It was first published in the weekly journal 'Ittehad', on 16th August, 1904. It was later published in 1924 in Y's book called 'Bang-i-Dara' (The Call of the Marching Bell).

'X' was set to music in the 1950's by sitarist Pt. Ravi Shankar and it was recorded by the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar.

In the early 1970's, Mrs. Indira Gandhi wanted 'Z' to be based on 'X'.

The task of making 'Z' was entrusted to sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar. Working with Ustad Ali Ahmed Hussain Khan, he finally came up with a variation of 'Z'.

In 1973, 'Z' was first brought to life when Ustad Ali Ahmed Hussain Khan recited 'Shehnai' in an hour and a half long inauguration ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi.

'Z' was very much in the news recently.

Identify 'X', 'Y' and 'Z'.
