‘X’ had a great passion for horses and horse racing.
He bought his first four horses in partnership with Mr. P. M. Rungta (Bhaiji), former President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
’X’ initially used to name his horses after his works, and his first horse was called ‘Sound Affair’.
Racehorse 'Rajasthan Royal' was X’s favourite. ‘X’ wanted this horse to win, but it hardly made the cut when he was at the races.
As per experts, ‘Rajasthan Royal’ was a sprinter, and it never stood a chance to compete with other horses in the ‘over the mile’ trip. Nobody thought it would even get to seven furlongs (1,400 metres), let aside winning it.
Despite all this, ‘Rajasthan Royal’ won the Pelican Trophy for ‘top class horses’, at the Pune race course. And he won the race at a time when ‘X’ was battling for his life in a Mumbai hospital.
'X' is more famous in another field, where he is considered a legend.
